THE TOP 10 WORST HELMETS IN THE NCAA/NFL

1. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

In my opinion, pure red looks like pure _____ (fill in the blank) on a football helmet but there was no originality at all with this one. How much thought was put into a helmet where you put just the player number on it? This is as bad as the one color scheme helmets and makes me puke (and not just because Saban coaches there).

2. PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS

Did a drunk from way back when design this? Pure white with a single dark stripe down the center? No symbol, design or originality? These domes are just plain putrid. Talk about no thought at all.

3. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

It’s a good thing they put Buckeye Leaves on the sides and backs of these lids for good plays because it covers up an otherwise brutally plain helmet. OSU is my #1 hated team in all of sports so that obviously doesn’t help their chances here either.

4. CLEVELAND BROWNS

See #2, #3 and then curse the horrible lack of originality here. Considering it’s a DOG

5. USC TROJANS

Many will disagree with me here but I have NEVER EVER liked these colors together. Again I can’t stand bright red anything for football but that bright puke yellow with it makes me do just that – BELCH.

6. OREGON DUCKS

Maybe it’s the fact that these uniforms are among the worst I have ever seen in my life let alone the helmet but there is only so much you can do to make yellow and green look good in the first place. Let’s make our players look like ducks if we can! What a stupid idea.

7. LSU TIGERS

There’s nothing much to say here except I just don’t like it.

8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Purple is another iffy color for a helmet but the weird thing about this lid is that no matter how many times I look at it, it always seems to look old to me.

9. NEW YORK GIANTS

In my opinion, there is nothing that stands out about this helmet at all. Good thing it says “NY” or “GIANTS” on the side of it to remind us who these guys are and where they play. BLAH.

10. NORTH CAROLINA

This helmet looks really nice due to great colors. That’s the problem. This is a game of intimidation, not a pretty helmet. It barely cracks this list simply because it’s almost too nice a dome to throw on here, but it’s just TOO NICE.

Well there you have it. Some may argue that Alabama doesn’t deserve the worst helmet but I’ve given more then enough reasons why it’s a bad dome. Make no mistakes about it, there are other brutal helmets in the WAC, Big East, Conference USA, etc but I wanted to try to list the better known teams here and mission accomplished. Bad helmet or not, all that matters is winning. Hey Bama, PSU and OSU, You know what the difference between you and Michigan is? WE MAKE THIS LOOK GOOD!!!
