BIG REDS CRUISE OVER L’ANSE CREUSE
The Port Huron High Big Reds played a tremendous all around football game on Friday Night at Memorial Stadium. It wasn’t just because it was HOMECOMING (although that had a lot to do with it) and it wasn’t just because the Big Red sideline was rocking as usual. Sometimes success has just as much to do with who you play as it does with how hard you play. The Big Reds won a decisive MAC BLUE contest with a 42-0 “CHOP-CHOP” over the struggling L’Anse Creuse Lancers. It was in a word – “DOMINANT.” The first 4 weeks of the season were anything but dominant for PH as they began with a 1-3 start. They’re much improved since then though, having racked up key victories over both Clintondale last week and the Lancers on Friday. What’s the perfect recipe for… …CONTINUE READING =>
LaForge Getting Fanmail???
Being as there was no game at Memorial Stadium last week, there was no game for THE BIG D to call but, an interesting comment written on this page regarding BIG RED Linebacker – Mike LaForge got me thinking so here is that comment and my response to it as echoed below on this page… -BIG D
ONE BIG RED TEAM DOWN…ONE TO GO!
After Friday Night’s contest at Memorial Stadium, two things became evident – defense wins and hard work pays off. The Port Huron Northern Huskies’ “D” has proven that their one of a kind unit is just plain dominating after an unexpected 24-10 upset over The Chippewa Valley Big Reds of the MAC RED division. On paper these types of victories/upsets don’t usually happen. If you’re a MAC RED school IT CAN’T HAPPEN but on Friday, IT DID and the Husky players, fans and students couldn’t be happier with how this 3-1 PHN start has gone thus far in 2010. WHAT AN UPSET! It really doesn’t matter to me where a MAC RED team is rated. CV is still a MAC RED team. Were they ripe for the picking? Were they not the same Big Reds… …CONTINUE READING =>
PORT HURON NORTHERN – BLOWOUT CITY!
Coming off last week’s heartbreaking last second loss to the highly rated Grosse Pointe South squad, Saturday afternoon’s victory at Memorial Stadium was exactly what the hard nosed Port Huron Northern Huskies needed. What’s the perfect remedy to recovering after a tough loss? Blow out your opponent in a “PAD THE STATS” game! That’s exactly what happened as the Huskies earned a 47-6 victory over the visiting L’Anse Creuse Lancers. Instead of hanging their heads in defeat after last week’s tough loss (Huskies could very easily be 3-0 instead of 2-1) they came out and played the same tough, physical style that they have since week 1 and they were finally rewarded for it in a BIG WAY! The Lancers (a rebuilding team that lost their offensive line and Central Michigan RB – Tyler Lombardo to graduation) didn’t know what hit them! To L’Anse Creuse it was a difficult, frustrating game but to Port Huron Northern it was ULTIMATELY SATISFYING! Husky LB – Kenny Sanders made it apparent before this game in saying… …CONTINUE READING =>
