CONGRATS PACK!

Posted by | October 11, 2011.

I just want to congratulate the Port Huron Northern Huskies for a thrilling double overtime victory over the Anchor Bay Tars on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately I couldn’t broadcast the game for CPHS and I do appologize for that but I was very happy to read about a 35-34 victory for PHN! Now comes the big test. Can they take down the mighty Big Reds? That’s a question that only Friday Night will answer but a message from Big D to both teams…play hard, hit hard and make this rivalry game special. That’s what it’s about. To all fans of both schools…take it from BIG D…COME EARLY! Good luck in the Super Bowl of Port Huron guys! May the best team win!

BIG D…OUT!

SEVEN UP…SEVEN DOWN – ODE TO THE AMAZING BIG REDS!

In my 15 plus years of varsity football play-by-play for CPHS-Channel 6, I’ve never watched a Port Huron team have a perfect season. Winning all 9 games of a Michigan Athletic Conference varsity football season is a rare thing. It’s special. That’s just what this 2011 Port Huron Big Red group is…SPECIAL. And after their convincing blowout 42-15 victory over the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils on Friday Night at Memorial Stadium, I’m now convinced. Unless the unthinkable happens, these Big Reds will run the table, end perfect and take their tremendous football team into the 2011 MHSAA Playoffs. At the beginning of the season, Grosse Pointe South was the one team predicted to challenge the Big Reds for the MAC BLUE title. The simple fact is, there doesn’t seem to be a MAC BLUE team capable of even playing with Port Huron. Do the Port Huron Northern Huskies have what it takes this Friday to pull off what could be considered a MASSIVE upset over PH? We’ll see. Until then though, …CONTINUE READING =>

QUINN-ESSENTIAL!!!

The 1968 rock group, Mannfred Mann song titled, “The Mighty Quinn” said it all. “Come all without, come all within. You’ll not see nothing like The Mighty Quinn.” Either has THE BIG D, Port Huron, Memorial Stadium or the MAC BLUE Division. Friday Night, the Port Huron Northern Huskies improved their winning percentage to .500 and thanks to Husky star WR – Quinn Kotsko, PHN is again a confident, winning football team that has clearly rebounded from their 1-3 start. Even though Sterling Heights is clearly struggling (0 wins in their last 16 regular season football games), a win is still a win and that’s exactly what the Huskies accomplished, wrecking the Stallions with a convincing 37-20 victory. …CONTINUE READING =>

5-0!

The Clintondale Dragons (of the MAC SILVER) came marching into Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon and to put it lightly, they left limping. Based on the fact that the Dragons play 2 divisions under the mighty Big Reds, I guess you could say this 35-8 Port Huron Big Red victory wasn’t much of a surprise. After all, this isn’t your everyday Port Huron football team. Coming off last week’s huge upset over Utica Eisenhower, everyone knew coming into this game that this 4-0 football team was for real but HOW FOR REAL? The longer this perfect record continues for Port   Huron, the harder it will be to keep but so far so good. I actually felt sorry for Clintondale during this game. Anytime a ball control/time of possession offense comes to town you know what to expect, it’s just a matter of stopping them. With Clintondale, what they try to do is no big shock. They give you long drives, lots of plays, lots of clock ticking down and lots of yardage while moving the sticks (or at least trying to). So how fair must it be to them when they see Big Red QB – Mark Chapman … …CONTINUE READING =>
