ANCHOR BAY TARS THE BIG REDS
It was the first varsity basketball game I did play by play for this year (through CPHS, Channel 6 in Port Huron, Michigan) on Friday Night (Jan. 8th) and it made me remember just how exciting it was to both watch and call basketball in this area. Problem is, it gave me a feeling of déjà vu and that certainly doesn’t bode well for the Port Huron High Big Reds who have been known as underachievers in the past. This night was no different as the Big Reds can partially blame themselves and their own mistakes for going down in defeat here. How many times have we said that in the past? That being said, top to bottom on this Big Red roster, there is a ton of athletic ability, potential and multi-sports athletes so in my opinion, things are going to get better as the season rolls along…just not necessarily on this evening. The Big Reds came out firing on all cylinders with their leading scorer, Forward – David Foster (that’s right, the same Foster who called himself “THE TRUTH” on the Memorial Stadium football field late last year) converting a couple of 3 point trips and with Point Guard – Jarrett Chapman (backup QB on the football team) putting up some decent early numbers.
