Penn State was 3-0 going into the game vs. Michigan today and Michigan’s D finally stepped up. I was very impressed by the way they played in the 14-9 victory and let me tell you…if this D would have played this way in the first 2 weeks there is no way U of M would be 0-2.
The fact is Oregon and App. State are 2 teams that run spread offenses. Michigan has had unbelievable trouble defending the spread and OSU with Troy Smith for the last 4 years is the biggest example of this.
Penn St. played the classic pro style power offense and Michigan rammed it down their throats. The difference in defenses depending on what style you attack Michigan with is a HUGE difference and is why Michigan is now 2-2 instead of 4-0.
This is a great start to the BIG 10 and so much for Penn St. being in the top 10. That’s 9 in a row against Penn St. and Joe Pa…time to retire, Grandpa.
