BIG D GOES OFF ON FORD/LIONS!

Last week’s Lions game really pissed me off. It’s understandable why it upset me so much being as probably every other Lions fan was pulling out their hair and wondering why in the hell we continue to cheer for this joke of an organization, but in my opinion, last Sunday can be divided into 3 separate games and 3 separate Detroit Lions teams…

LIONS TEAM #1 – Gave up 21 straight points and made me throw up my breakfast (It was a good breakfast too which makes it that much more of a shame).

LIONS TEAM #2 – Came back and took the lead with hard work, aggressive play and converted with their big play wideouts.

LIONS TEAM #3 – Allowed a 60 yard passing play on the very next drive. Just when we thought the Lions were truly in the driver’s seat we learned just minutes later that it was simply a tease game by a tease team yet again.

How many years are we going to go through this? It’s a joke. Feel free to add a curse word before “joke” in that last sentence. I would have but the Lions aren’t worth me putting that much emotion into any longer. There is a simple answer to all of this though. Don’t show up to anymore games. I know that will never happen though because the NFL is loved everywhere in the USA and Detroit is definitely one of the major football cities in North America fan base wise. If fans are going to continue to go to all the games and make greedy, money hog, William Clay Ford Sr. more money (which is all he cares about), then the answer to all of this is simple (even though I know it will never happen). It’s important to not blame the players for the Lions struggles, the coaches (even though I don’t think this team responds to Marinelli and they never really have on most levels) and even the GM (even though it’s obvious Millen has been there losing for too long). There is only one man to blame at this point and it’s clearly the owner, Mr. Ford.

I’ve talked about this in the past and it seems like a dying issue but this week brought out so many negative comments by Detroit fans and the general media around the nation so I am going to just say it again. What Ford needs to do is call out his team. I know, I know, it’s not going to happen because of his love for his good friend, Matt Millen and how he wants to stand by his side forever but, all Ford needs to do is get on a microphone and simply say, “I’m calling my team out. I am calling out the Detroit Lions. Either perform or there will be repercussions.” And don’t just say it with a few people in mind either. Say it to the ENTIRE ORGANIZATION. Say you are sick of losing. Say you are fed up and swear if you have to Mr. Ford. Swear, dammit. Get angry. This team sucks and they need to be told. They need to be threatened. SCARE THEM. Stop being such a wuss and a good person and a greedy owner. This is not a game for good people. Football is a game with a bunch of overpaid, rough imbeciles and they need to be yelled at. You could leave this onus on Millen but no one would listen or believe him with his useless track record so Mr. Ford, it all comes down to you, dammit. YOU!

It’s not like Ford hasn’t ever done this before. Back in the Fontes era he used to put ultimatums on this team. They weren’t heavy ones but at least most of the time the team would respond. Nowadays the only thing this team tries to respond to is the “Listen, observe, practice,” bullshit of Coach Marinelli (among many actual Marinelli-isms and ideals that he brings that I am losing faith in very quickly) that might I add is also getting very old now. How much longer do we have to put up with this bullshit? That’s what I want to know. This is not high school football it’s the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys are an outstanding example of what a true winning organization is like. Here is why…

Dallas Owner, Jerry Jones (love him or hate him) gets the most out of his organization most of the time. The reason for this is because he is clearly what Ford is not - A proven winner with a desire to keep on winning all the time. He may get a little vocal and at times he takes things too far but at least the guy wants to win. He also isn’t afraid of his little cronies enough where he doesn’t want to speak his mind and tell them to shape up or piss off. Ford seems to be. The Lions organization is a joke because they aren’t vocal enough. And just look at this Cowboys team for a moment. They won early 90’s Superbowls and had some down years but they rebuilt as teams do and once again 15 years later they are Superbowl hopefuls again. Why were the Lions never a strong team during that entire era? Dallas is a team that simply regroups then they come back and bury you again. Detroit is a team that buries themselves and stays buried forever because all Ford cares about is his wallet and his friends. I will say it again…this is not a league for friends, it’s a league for results and you aren’t getting results, Mr. Ford. You haven’t had them with any coach you’ve agreed to hire and we all know you certainly aren’t getting it with Matt Millen so I am convinced we aren’t getting it WITH YOU. Thus, you are to blame for the Lions and their lack of success. YOU! As I heard recently, if you want to talk jokes then go look up what Ford bought the Lions for then and what they are worth now. I am not going to give you the numbers but when you look at total worth of The Detroit Lions franchise, please do me a favor and sit down because trust me, you’re going to need to. This team is a disgrace and so is the organization.

That being said, the Detroit Lions fans are still loyal, still going to the games, still cheering on the Lions and despite booing heavily at times (which they have a right to do since they paid good money to see a piss poor football product), they are still very loyal and true fans of this mockery that is the Detroit Lions. Thanks again, Lions fans. You have an owner who doesn’t care, who wants to make money only, and who wants to make friends. Isn’t that great? Mr. Ford, if you have any respect for the people who put money in your pockets every week for your Detroit Lions then it’s time to call out this football team like never before. You are the only one who can. Until that day, we are the fans of the pathetic Detroit Lions, AND WE ARE WAITING.
